The next edition of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be in May 2019, in Aigle, in the Swiss “canton” of Vaud. The indigenous Chasselas is the Cépage-roi (“King of grapes”) of exactly that canton, representing 60% of the wine production.

After judging we had master classes on Chinese wines and the market, 3 days of tasting sessions, winery visits to the regions of Fangshangand Yangkingand tourist attractions such as the famous Summer Palace in Beijing. Each day begun with a Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi performance and ended with a Peking Duck Cookery Show or another traditional event like a dinner at the Chinese Royal Gastronomy Museum in Royal Xiandu. It was perfect cultural and wine Chinese experience too.

I was honoured to be invited to the 25th edition of World Wine Competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles which was the first time in Asia. Chinese hosts were just perfect. Judges, more than 330 of us have to judge 9.180 wines and 320 different grape varieties from 48 countries. Working conditions were absolutely stunning. The tasting sheets are being replaced by tablets.
