Where: Dusseldorf, Germany
When: March 16-18, 2025
This year's eye and taste catch was Armenia and the pool of countries around. I found a promising winery from the Armenian wine region Vayots Dzor. Winery is called ArmVinArt LLC. Their focus is on cultivating indigenous grape varieties from the region such as Khatouni, Voskehat, Chillar, White and Red Areni. Another eye and taste catch was Moldova with excellent wines and labels too. Combining with indigenous wine with world known varieties. Another moment where taste was in heaven was New World hall. One of them is British sparkling wines. What »a smooth operator«. If that would be blind tasting I would say high end Champagne. But it is about Hundred Hills near Oxford. Then New Zealand wines, also South African. We tasted some interesting Sauvignon Blanc from Mexico, Baja California – Lacetto Winery. Then the so-called brand Cool Climate Wines from Denmark. They have mostly Pinot Noir and Solaris.
We can say that ProWein is a place where all the wine-producing countries in the world are evenly distributed in one place.
What The ProWein Business Report 2025 say? »Consumer’s reduced spending power and the global economic downturn continue to impact the global wine trade. About half of producers and trade experts cite declining wine consumption due to health concerns and a shift toward alternative beverages as critical challenges. This issue is especially pronounced in North America and among producers in Austria, Portugal, and Germany.
