This was VieVinum 2016

3 day wine festival every 2 years in Vienna Hofburg – I call it the Vienna Castle is perfect hot spot for get to know Austrian wines. Around 550 exhibitors, predominantly from Austria from Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) comprised the largest group of exhibitors followed by vintners from Burgenland, Styria, and Vienna as well as Carinthia The Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) filled the most prominent position among the international exhibitors. Vintners from East and Southeast Europe appeared under the “New Europe” banner to communicate a convincing message with the exciting flair of the yet undiscovered. The Austrian wine merchant Wein&Co presented the highly topical theme “Natural Wines”. There were also vineries from Slovenia but my tastings were at Austrians and Natural Wines.

All I can say is: the world has so great wines!

All fairs where I went have perfect wines mainly. So the concurrence is really really strong. Austrians are great with gruner veltliner, sauvignons blaufrankish, Rieslings, ... For me is also interesting that VieVinum is only every 2 years even wine production is very important industry. Lets save the date for the next VieVinum who will take place from June 9 to June 11 2018. This occasion will also be the 20-year anniversary of the VieVinum!

My TOP
