What: Wine Tasting Organized by Goriška Brda Women

Starting in 2009, the last Tuesday in August is reserved for the famous »Women and Wine 'Brike' in the City« event taking place at Ljubljana Castle. This year »Brike«, as the Ladies from Goriska Brda hills call themselves, invited their ladyfriends from Vipava Valley, Istria and Karst to join them and unite the entire Primorska region, presenting 35 Wine Cellars and over 90 samples of Wine, which makes, as Petra Rutar has told us, the biggest event so far. However, the aim is not only to rejoice and taste the flavours of Primorska, but it has the humanitarian note as well. The entrance fees and voluntary contributions of visitors, in total 500 EUR, were given to Maternity Hospital of Šempeter pri Novi Gorici. For this year's Special Award »Brike« have chosen the group of Slovenian actresses who promoted wine district of Goriska Brda in the TV series »Ena Žlahtna Štorja« (One Noble Story). »These Ladies are responsible for the excellent promotion of G. Brda and Wine in general,« has said Rutar. Women in Wine is a great example of event connecting Vintners and Ladies-Vintners, as well it is raising awareness of Wine culture.
