Who: Portugieser Wine Competition & Wine Festival

The only international competition of the Portuguese variety was organized by the Villány Wine Region and the Pécs Wine Bar, in which 84 wines from 7 countries were launched by the wineries. The eighth Portugieser du Monde champion award was won by Austrian wines in two categories and Hungarian and German wines in each category. A total of 18 wines won the gold medal for outstanding wines, 11 of them Hungarian and 7 foreign (Slovak, Austrian and German). Italian, Polish, Austrian, Slovenian, Swiss and Hungarian judges came to the international wine competition, who visited several wineries in Villány, but also went on a trip to Máriagyűd and visited the city of Pécs. Several members of the jury remained in the county for the awards ceremony and audience tasting. In the company of about two hundred enthusiastic wine lovers, István Ipacs-Szabó, Vice-President of the Villány Wine Region

Council and Zoltán Győrffy, the competition director, presented the champion prizes and the gold and silver diplomas.
