Salon Rizling & Riesling Ljubljana 2015

Themed wine events are on a rise in Slovenia and they should be so winelovers can focus on specific variety and meet various samples in same place. On Friday, 19th of June Ljubljana's Union Hall hosted the prime event dedicated to both Rieslings, Welsh and Rhein. Salon Rizling & Riesling is the first specialised event on the topic of Riesling (let's remember, Slovenia already hosts dedicated to Malvasia, Refosco, Sauvignon, Traminer and Penina).

Just over 100 guests have tasted 76 Welsh and Rhein Rieslings from 27 Wineries. Despite lower amount of visitors the hosts are satisfied and expect the rise on the upcoming events. Guided tasting by Jože Rozman, wine writer, showed us the variety of the flavours and character. Both Rhein and Welsh can give us interesting fresh, macerated, matured and even the wines with the sugar residue.
