Scent of Prekmurje Ljubljana 2015

In the beginning of June »Prekmurci« (the residents of Prekmurje region) brought the best of their cuisine to Ljubljana where the 10th Culinary evening was held. Festival Hall, the venue of the event was crowded and young chefs were eager to show their skills in preparing and presenting the most traditional and delicious examples of domestic cuisine made of local ingredients. »Dobrodošli«, Mr. Janez Kodila welcomed the guests in the hall and continued that such event is unique opportunity to present Prekmurje as a region of extraordinary cuisine, maintaining the traditions, natural beauties and – the most important – warm and hospital people of Prekmurje. The menu was composed of »Prekmurska Šunka« (Prekmurje ham), pumpkin seeds, beetroot, buckwheat and millet porridge, greaves, young potatoes and vegetables, chicken and pork shank, all prepared and served in that special domestic spirit with a nuance of contemporary touch. Wines impressed us as well, Welshriesling 2013 Talaber, Pinot Gris 2013 Vina Gjerkeš, Sauvignon 2014 Krampač, Rose 2013 and Blau Frankisch 2011 Marof – all dry. And for desert semi sweet Muscat 2014 Krampač.
