Where world of wine meets

Well, ProWein … hm, wine fair, where you can taste wine from all over the world at the same place. Its very serious and huge fair (3,300 exhibitors and 36,000 trade visitors), but if you make a plan in advance you can easily taste from one part of the wine world to another. Germans are way ahead with organic food. That’s why organic wines have every year bigger impact. It becomes a fixture in both retail and food service. Accordingly versatile was the segment at the year’s ProWein featured almost 150 wine-growing estates from 15 nations. 86% of the trade visitors rated the organic wine range at ProWein as positive.

Here are mine TOP 5 favourite wines from the fair:

    1. Murfatlar winery; Trei Hectare Cabernet Sauvignon 2006; Romania (the tannin extract matches perfectly the subtle acidity)

    2. Castilo Peralada; Cava Brut Reserva, Spain (fresh, fine aroma with fruit hints)

    3. Seifried; Sauvignon Blanc 2009; New Zealand (lime notes & mineral acidity)

    4. Tamaya; Carmenere 2008; Chile (blueberries & tones of leather)

    5. Intipalka, Cabernet Sauvignon + Petit Verdot 2008; Peru (robust and full-flavoured wine)

On the show were also Slovenian wine makers:

Ptujska klet – Pullus, Dveri-Pax, Jeruzalem Ormož, Marof, Radgonske gorice, Kogl, Santomas, Vina Koper, Vina Kras, Vinske klet Goriška Brda, Zlati Grič.

The next ProWein will be held in Düsseldorf from 27 to 29 March 2011.
