Salon Ranine 2026 – Ranina as a Wine & Destination Story

Where: Dom penine, Radgonske gorice, Gornja Radgona, Slovenia

Gornja Radgona hosted the Salon Ranine 2026, celebrating Ranina, an indigenous Slovenian grape variety, through a day combining vineyards, wine, gastronomy and culture.

The programme began with the “In the Footsteps of Ranina” hike through the vineyards and historic wine-growing sites of the Radgona-Kapela wine district. The route introduced participants to local vineyards, winemakers and stories of the region, including the historic Police vineyard area and one of the oldest Ranina plantings. The hike also took participants to Vinogradništvo Kolarič, where they visited the cellar, tasted Ranina and enjoyed the traditional “Bouvier vineyard bread”.

The afternoon was dedicated to a Wine Academy, exploring how Ranina could become a distinctive wine and tourism experience for the destination. Wine professionals, winemakers, sommeliers and researchers discussed the variety’s potential, different styles of production and its role in connecting wine, gastronomy, landscape and tourism.

The tasting demonstrated the versatility of Ranina – from fresh and sparkling styles to mature wines and wines of special quality. Among the highlights was the Ranina Jagodni Izbor 1990, this year’s champion.

The evening continued with a Ranina wine tasting, gastronomy, music and cabaret, featuring wines from Radgonske gorice, Vinogradništvo Kolarič, Steyer Vina, Vina Tempus, Vinarstvo Fleisinger, Vinarstvo Ploj and Anina klet.

The 2026 Salon Ranine once again showed that Ranina can be more than a grape variety – it can become a distinctive story of place, connecting wine, heritage, landscape, gastronomy and tourism in the Radgona-Kapela wine district.
